Is It Right for You?
Invisalign works well for most mild-to-moderate crowding and spacing cases. It's less predictable for severe bite issues or major tooth rotations, where traditional braces may work faster. During your consult with Dr. Robert Khanian we'll tell you honestly if your case fits, or if a different approach would work better — see his background on our Meet the Doctors page.
Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces
Invisalign aligners are removable, nearly invisible, and don't require the diet restrictions that come with metal brackets. Traditional braces are fixed in place (no compliance required) and can handle more complex movements. Most patients choose Invisalign for the discretion and convenience once we've confirmed it fits their case.
Caring for Your Aligners
- Remove before eating or drinking anything besides water
- Brush your teeth before putting aligners back in
- Clean aligners with a soft brush and lukewarm water — hot water can warp them
- Keep the case with you so you're not tempted to skip wearing them
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most cases run 6–18 months depending on how much movement is needed.
Do I have to wear the aligners all day?
Yes — 20–22 hours a day for treatment to stay on schedule. They come out for eating and brushing.
Is Invisalign noticeable?
The aligners are clear and low-profile; most people won't notice unless they're looking closely.
Can teens use Invisalign?
Yes, we treat teens as well as adults — we'll evaluate whether all permanent teeth have come in before starting.
What happens after treatment ends?
You'll be fitted for a retainer to keep your new alignment in place; wearing it as instructed is what makes the results last.
